Wrecked piano gets given a new life with piano restoration.
This Welmar Grand was damgaed very badly by a flood from above
, creating many splits in the soundboard which were wide enough to drop a coin through. Westminster Pianos specialise in piano restorations and were able to bring the piano back to its former glory.

Soundboard Splits
Note the split (black line running from left to right ) that was caused by dryning out of soundboard after flood. Splits can also be caused by dry heat, which is most caused by central heating and sunlight. |
|
Restored
Frame has been sprayed, soundboard has been bleached, had its splits repaired, and been sealed against the enviroment.
|
Tarnished and Rusty
The frame on this Welmar was filthy, scratched and chipped. The frame screws were also badly tarnished and rusty. |
|
Restored Pianos
Emaculate condition from its former self just 3 to 4 months earlier in the image to the left of tarnish and rust. Shining wrest pins, bright looking and sounding strings, newly plated frame screws, new frame felts, new damper bodies. This piano will now sound as good as it looks!
|
Red Rust Piano Strings
The Welmar had heavily rusted strings, these were of course useless. Also note the damaged black damper bodies. All the damper felts were hard and stuck to the strings!
